September 9: Lecture Hall

I went to a lecture at the California College of the Arts today. I haven't been in a college lecture hall in years, and I don't think I've been surrounded by that many students in so long.

It was amazing. The speaker was Zaid Hassan, who is essentially, a very clever problem solver. He works to solve complex, high-stakes problems like malnutrition in India, climate change, homelessness. During a part of it, he asked us to talk to our neighbors about how what he was lecturing about influences what we do in our own careers. The woman next to me worked in criminal justice in Holland.

"Do you work in the non-profit space? Criminal Justice?" She asked. I told her that I wasn't, that I was an artist. "Then why are you here?"
